I walked in with my dog who had passed away on the way. I wasn’t able to make that call so I went in. The staff was absolutely amazing. I will never forget their kindness and compassion.
I would ABSOLUTELY NOT recommend bringing your pet here for anything more serious than a minor, clearly treatable condition. I brought my 6 week old kitten here because unfortunately everywhere else was closed on a Saturday evening. We waited for 5 HOURS. Never once saw or spoke to a veterinarian, only front desk staff and vet techs. Although everyone that worked there was nice, the care was AWFUL. We left without a diagnosis, charged $300 for tests and fluids. Did they doctor even listen to my kittens lungs??? SHE HAD FLUID IN HER LUNGS AND THEY GAVE HER MORE FLUIDS. There was never the option to put her to sleep, even though they knew she would not make it and instead overloaded her lungs with more fluid, essentially drowning her. If they "didn't know" then they should get their license taken away. A first year medical student can recognize the sound of fluid filled lungs. They will recommend every test, X-ray, treatment option knowing very well it will not help. They are very good at being vague and giving you the run around while recommending unnecessary tests/fluids/antibiotics to rack up the bill in the mean time.
So to start out, if your pet needs hospital care it is going to be expensive. There is no roundabout way to get away from that. If you love your dog like a member of the family and feel they deserve the best care possible then this is your place. They are very upfront with diagnosis and treatment. I brought our 8 Year Old Welsh Pembroke Corgi to them as she was in Renal failure and required 24 hour IV and monitoring. I could barely bring myself to leave her but I knew it was the right thing for her. I could have gone an easier and cheaper route through my local vet but she would not get the 24 hour care she needed. The staff was professional and nice. I called every day in the evening and they would email me pictures of my Foxy girl. I once even called at 1am because I had just gotten done working and they still sent pics that night. I know that my pup isn't going to last very long but they got her back to being perky and eating. Her kidney levels were better leaving after her stay in September than the were last June at my local vet. In short, if you care about your loved one you will put them in the hands of professionals. If the situation were to happen again, I would not hesitate to come here again.
My puppy was recently hit by a car and thankfully only suffered a few minor cuts and bruises, but I brought him to VSES to get looked at and they took great care of him. After checking him out they gave me meds for his pain and sat down with me to explain what I should look for in the following days. They were very kind and informative during a scary time.
I had an excellent experience at VSES. I first called to see if it was appropriate to bring my 1 yr old cat in for blood in urine they asked about his symptoms and were very helpful on the phone . Upon arrival they brought my cat back with in 5 mins of me signing it. It seemed to be a very busy night but we're appropriately staffed. I met with a vet tech, a vet twice, and lastly an emergency specialist. They were very attentive to my concerns and answered all questions. They took great care of my cat. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of waiting room. I also thought the price of services were reasonable. What an excellent service you offer. Thank you.
