Not sure if they routinely carry matress covers but Ken’s Neat Movers is for you’re highly organized, extremely neat, and all your items are packed away (even things you’re leaving behind) in moving boxes purchased from them, U-Haul or similar company so they can operate in an assembly line.
I will tell you that we prepared as much as possible before they came meaning everything was boxed, organized, and labeled beforehand.
What a nightmare! I called on August 4 to schedule my move for Saturday August 6 after reading several positive online reviews. I told Ken circumstances surrounding my move such as some things were staying behind in my 2 bedroom apartment, which furniture was going to my new home, and some items I was transporting myself. In addition to plastic storage bins, I used boxes picked up from the liquor store with at least 25 ready to go. Ken was professional and quoted a range with a $200 difference from the low end to the high end. He gave me the option to pay for my move in cash or I would have to pay the 3% fee credit card companies charge him. He said he’d call me the following day to confirm method of payment and to confirm I was ready to move on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. Throughout our conversation, Ken repeatedly told me that if needed his team would help me pack although it would cost less if I’d done my packing and that they tend to bring boxes and tape to customers just in case. I opted to pay with a credit card. On Saturday, four men came in their truck and I thought they’d have me moved in no time. I told them what items were going and what would be left. While there were a few things on two dressers that took less than 5 minutes to clear away, they said that I wasn't ready and didn't want to do the move and proceeded to leave me with boxes and packaging tape “to save me money” because it would have been too expensive for them to pack me. In my wildest dreams, I couldn't have ever imagined this happening. Ben told me to call Ken, who was still sleeping, to reschedule my move, explaining he was unsure if they could come back Saturday afternoon and that a Sunday move would be an additional $25 an hour. Another one of their guys left me with about 5 boxes and a roll of packing tape, which came up to about $42 of materials I didn't need but accepted in my distraught state. They left. I frantically called around looking for other movers and by the time Ken called me back around noon, I was wrapping up final details for other arrangements. He said although they didn't have another move for Saturday, his guys had already gone home and live too far out to come back to do my move and offered to do it on Sunday without the premium $25 hour charge. If my other arrangements fell through, I told him I’d call him back for the move, which I didn't until a few days later asking him for a total refund. Among other things, he questioned my motives for accepting packaging material I didn't need, said I’d be responsible for paying $50 for his four men and truck to come to my apartment to cover their pay and gas. I reiterated we had an agreement for a 8:30 a.m. move, there was work to be done, and his men decided not to keep our agreement. I felt like a parent or high school teacher explaining to Ken that as a business owner, he was responsible for covering the cost of his workers [if they didn't uphold our agreement], not the consumer. That I’m incurring additional costs by them not keeping their word so if anything, they owed me money. That he couldn’t have everything his way - he helps people pack but really doesn’t under the guise of “saving customers money.” This was a 31 minute conversation, time I’ll never get back (at times he repeated himself and I had to tell him not to speak down to me). This call was cut short when I told him I’m writing a review (he become upset and felt I shouldn't since he was “trying to work with me”) and will be disputing the charge on my credit card. He then asked for 24 hours while he “talked things over with Ben again” which he called saying I can keep the packaging materials and he’ll issue a full refund.
If you're finding this review because you're in need of a mover, definitely give Ken a call.
The whole process was efficient, and professional.,Ken was very prompt and courteous on the phone, provided accurate estimates and great tips for packing. When moving day arrived, the crew was absolutely phenomenal! Extremely respectful & helpful, every time my wife tried to pick up a box,one of the guys was there with a smile and helping hands.Never heard a single gripe from the guys as they gladly handled any special request we had.Byrd,Mitch,Adam and Ben make for a dynamic team!I had quotes from other movers in the Rochester area and Ken's is very competitive and without doubt, the absolute best movers in Rochester. No need to look anywhere else.Thank you for making a potentially stressful situation so very easy.
I am beyond impressed with Ken's. I called Ken after calling a few other places to get quotes on a local move here in Rochester. Ken's was the most reasonably priced that I found. It was also a plus that he had availability for a weekday move with just 2 weeks notice. After discussing in detail what I needed moved, he gave me a very realistic quote with the estimated best and worst case scenarios for cost. This was appreciated as we've all heard stories of how costs can be added at the end. It was all explained well as to set expectations.
We were only charged for that amount of time which was exactly what Ken had quoted me as our best case scenario.
Day of move, I got a call from the movers that they were on the way. Right on time as promised. The 3 gentleman pulled up, got out, and went right to work. They surveyed the apartment and began moving everything in a rhythmic fashion. It almost seemed effortless the way that they worked. The truck was loaded after just 45min. It was incredible. They had everything in our house and exactly where we wanted it in just about 2 hours.
Terrible! Based on a list I sent Ken his price was between $700 and $1,100. After they finished for the day he handed me a bill for $1,250 with half of my items on the list still at the old location. Ken was more interested in tidying up his moving blankets than moving furniture. They also broke two pieces of furniture, one they fixed the other they didn't tell me about. The broken piece may have been an oversight because overall I feel Ken's employees were professional. It was Ken who seemed to be in the way of actual work getting done.
Besides the cost and amount of time it took I was equally impressed with the fact that not one item was damaged. Not a single scuff on the wall.
The truck arrived right on time and the crew was extremely quick and efficient. They started right away and had everything loaded on the truck within 30 minutes. I had purchased some furniture over the weekend and had to pick it up which wasn't part of the original estimate, but they were accommodating and added that stop and still finished in record time and under budget. They took the time to lay down blankets on the flooring so that no dirt was tracked in, they wrapped up my belongings and tied everything down...nothing was damaged in the move. I have never used movers before but after this move I will never move without them again! I would recommend Ken's to anyone.
The Best!!!
The day before the move Ken called me to confirm the move and go over the details one more time. What I needed was fairly demanding but Ken was very accommodating. I needed an entire 2 bedroom apartment moved from one address, a stop at a second address to get a dresser from the third floor, then unload everything at our final destination.
These guys wasted no time and when you charge by the hour, that means that I didn't waste any of my money.
I am very impressed with the level of service I received from the first call I made until the last box was off the truck.
