Makers Gallery is a gem of Rochester culture, featuring local, high quality art, events, and serving delicious Fuego coffee.
Don't stop at just the coffee, as Ed Graham supplies the doughnuts as well. Ed is known as the Doughnut King here in the Rochester region, as he is famous for his scrumptious home-made crème brulee doughnut. He also happens to be the owner of this place along with Alex. I loved that they hand-fired the crème brulee doughnut with a blow-torch to caramelize the top. The custard inside was cooked to perfection, making you want more filling! Also joining us today was Tea Witch Tea who has a booth situated on the floor below. There Coco-Loco and Fear-Less Teas are my favorite, making you feel better about your day with each sip. Tru, the founder of Tea Witch Tea creates a memorable ritual within each cup. Every couple of months you will find a new gallery around the open loft floors such as the well-known Year One- A Gallery of the First 52 Weeks of Explore Rochester ( wait, we should have been in a painting!) . As well as a long running exhibit called Sleeping Giants with artist Andrea Durfeel who specializes in color and ink drawings.
Overall: Hidden Gem Off Elton Street, Climb to the TOP Floor, Ed the Doughnut King, The Crème Brulee Doughnut, Loft Styled Coffee Shop and Work-Space, Fuego Coffee Roasters, and Rotating Art Gallery's...I Have Been Back.
Still love this place a lot, although they stopped selling the best donuts in the city. A real gem which contributes to the community of local artists, introducing their masterpieces to the public. It is also nice to come here for a cup of tasty Fuego coffee or Hot Chocolate (which I believe they make using Hedonist chocolate). As a bonus - owners are super nice people :-)
Easy free parking - specially for their building.
Beautiful atmosphere and expertly curated shows with some of the finest local artists that Rochester has to offer. Just a nice place to go and chill to work, read, or socialize.
Get ready to make your mark at Makers Gallery for the kick off of our inaugural series called First Taste. This is a chance to get up close and personal with local businesses around the area to see what they are all about. Makers Gallery was kind to host the first event for us, which included ample coffee and doughnuts. Maker's is HIDDEN in a building off Elton Street, and is exclusive only if you know about it. You will have to climb up to the TOP floor of the building to find this hidden gem. Maker's is a coffee shop, art gallery, and work-space rolled into one. Once inside, you are amerced in this spectacular setting which makes you feel like you are inside a luxury loft. The fresh hard-wood paneled floors, and posh couches complement this place well. I also enjoy all the window lighting while having a cup of coffee. Speaking of coffee, Fuego Coffee Roasters supplies there delicious blends on a daily basis. You can get a cup of their kalita (pour over) and cortado coffee's which taste out of this world!
Beautiful old warehouse makes for an interesting atmosphere. Very helpful staff.
