I'm generally a pretty laid back customer. If a place seems really busy or understaffed I'll cut people a lot of slack. But Papaya wasn't busy. Maybe the serving staff thought I was waiting for someone because I was dining alone, but 1) the hostess should have let them know, and 2) a server should have come over to see if I wanted water or a drink while I was "waiting".
I so want to love this place: the ambiance, the music, the service, the flavor! It's wonderful
Well, I now know why this place is always nearly empty.
I was out running errands and decided to stop in for dinner at about 5:30, give or take. There were few other customers, and I was seated quickly. However, nobody came to so much as take a drink order from me by 5:45, so I got up and left. In that time I had two servers walk past my table talking and watched the hostess walk around the restaurant polishing glasses and silverware already on the tables.
When my wife and I come here on a weeknight, we don't need to worry about getting a table... But if the place looks empty, don't let it scare you away. The food is delicious and the average entree price is $15 or less. Hardly expensive. Service is always quick and staff is knowledgeable about the menu.
Incredible food. ... cool place. Pretty chill place to catch a game at the bar. Went here w my wife and 5 other members of our family. Had a great time and service was also great.
Really great experiences every time. Pad Thai dish is great, sesame chicken amazing, and I hear sushi is good too. Would definitely recommend and I hope they stick around for a long time to come!
They serve a variety of Martinis and have a decent selection of beers on draft, at least a dozen, in addition to a good win list. If you're around Marketplace Mall around dinner time, do yourself a favor and check this place out.
I definitely won't be wasting my time at Papaya in the future.
