I engaged with MMB at the beginning of the year. I was quoted a specific rate for learning my businesses and the cost to do the work. When the bill came, it was 4 times the amount. When I spoke to the Senior Partner who proposed the work, he actually laughed at me. Physically laughed that I wanted to discuss this with them. It was odd, condescending and strange as I have worked with all of the large Rochester firms in some capacity with great working relationships. I renegotiated the rate down eventually and agreed to part ways with MMB and had agreement on the final rate. My bookkeeper, accidentally overpaid and when she requested the monies back as she made an honest mistake, the partner stated, that they still owe money. He has not returned any calls or emails for over a week. His assistance saying he is in a meeting, always. I previously worked for Ernst and Young, before owning my business and MMB is certainly not a firm of that stature. Own up to your promises, your handshakes and your agreements and try to not treat small businesses in such a disrespectful, condescending way. We will now have to go to court to get these funds returned.
Update.... I received a call from the Managing Partner who worked through the issue with us and was able to get to a equitable solution for all of us. I felt the resolution did take me some additional effort to get there, but they did take the time to ensure that we were satisfied. Companies may have challenges or fall down at times, so the way they pick themselves up and address issues are key. MMB did a good job here and stuck to there word.
